Meenmutti Waterfalls (August 6, 2023)

On our way to Ponmudi, we stopped to see some waterfalls.  I didn't really think about what that meant but wanted to go see them.  Shaji said that it was about 1 km so we decided to make the trek.

I did not dress for this.  I kept telling Marshall that I wanted my shorts, tank top and tennis shoes BUT at least I wasn't covered in a head scarf  and wearing a full length saree or dress.

After a very short walk, we came to the family area.  Many families were gathered and swimming together.  Notice they are mostly fully dressed and not in bathing suits.

This is  a shot of the family area. They spread out into different spots.

This reminded us of Hebron Falls near Blowing Rock.

Here we are in the family area.  We are feeling ok and not feeling too hot yet.....
At this point, you take off your shoes and wade across the stream.  There are ropes to hold on to because there is a strong current and the rocks are slippery.  Initially we had to wait for a family of 20 people (young children, parents and grandparents) to come back across.

If you could have seen how hot we were.  Marshall was drenched and I was glistening too.   We made it to the waterfalls and it was pretty but we aren't sure it was worth the effort in the clothes we had on....
